The Bund is an unmissable spot in Shanghai, where you can soak in the city’s charm, both modern and historic. Here’s a route that’ll take you through some iconic sights, offering a great experience whether you’re a local or a visitor.
Start on the west side of the Bund at Bund Sightseeing Avenue. It’s usually packed, especially around holidays, but trust me, it’s worth it. The view across the river of Lujiazui’s skyline is breathtaking. A short stroll here lets you feel Shanghai’s unique blend of East and West – a crossroad of cultures that is practically visible in sight.
From here, head toward Beijing East Road for some picture-perfect views of the Oriental Pearl Tower and Jin Mao Tower in the background. It’s a great spot for photos!
Next, take a cab or hop on the subway to Lujiazui Station on the east side of the Huangpu River. Walk towards Binjiang Avenue, and if you time it right, you’ll catch sunset at Riluo Changlang (which means “Sunset Hall”). Here, you get an incredible view of the Bund, watching the historic buildings light up as the sky fades into dusk – a magical moment you don’t want to miss.
If you’re hungry after sunset, Binjiang Park has a mix of Western restaurants like Chili’s, 1886 German Automobile Restaurant, Paulaner Brauhaus, and Lavazza Italian Restaurant. Or, take a short walk to Latina Brazilian Steakhouse, a buffet-style spot where you can eat your fill of grilled meats. They bring the skewers right to your table and carve slices fresh for you – and the lively Brazilian ambiance makes it even better.
After dinner, head back to Binjiang Avenue to take in the Bund’s night view. A cool breeze, the lights twinkling across the water, and maybe some tunes from street artists make for a perfect end to your day at the Bund.
